When I was 18, I realized I was “late” and a friend offered to take me downtown for a pregnancy test at Planned Parenthood. There were pro-life protesters in front of the building. I knew as I walked past these protesters, I wasn’t going to have an abortion. Inside, among a mass herd of girls, I found out I was pregnant. My friend was very concerned. I told her that I was not going through with an abortion. She was so relieved and told me her secret that one year earlier, she had been in my shoes and had an abortion.

Naturally, my parents were upset about the unplanned pregnancy. Both of them cried with me but became very supportive. God was present with me through those early months and through the years that followed. My baby is a grown woman now and has given me two beautiful grandsons.
